With the extreme saturation of media in today’s culture it can be hard to create a well-informed personal opinion on social and political issues. With this wide spectrum of media, comes a wide spectrum of bias and polarized opinion – it is the responsibility of the viewer/listener to sift through theses sources to best inform themselves. But due to the massive amount of sources, it is often the case that one either settles on something mediocre to give them all of their information or attempts to consume large volumes of information to explore all perspectives. In Wake Pt. 2 depicts large digital elements that seem to float in the landscape obscuring the Pariacaca glacial range as one would see it in person. The floating digital shapes are in fact derived from the photograph that lies behind them but have been colorized and removed from the context of the larger environment in which they were taken and thus rendered inherently different from their source. This obscuration of the receding glacier is a direct reflection of the way in which media obscures its subject matter by its extreme bias and personal agendas.
